Das Cybersecurity und Blockchain-Unternehmen Wisekey plant die Bodenstation für sein Satelliten-Programm in der spanischen Stadt La Linea de la Concepciòn.

Ein entsprechendes Memorandum of Understandig mit Bürgermeister Juan Franco und Fabian Picardo, Chief Minister des benachbarten Gibraltars, sei unterzeichnet worden, teilte Wisekey am Montag mit. Das Zentrum soll den Betrieb Ende 2021 mit dem Start des ersten Mini-Satelliten aufnehmen.
Im März hatte sich Wisekey am spanischen Luft- und Raumfahrtunternehmen Fossa beteiligt und eine Zusammenarbeit bei der Entwicklung von sogenannten Pico-Satelliten angekündigt. Das geplante Kompetenzzentrum in La Linea soll nun als Drehscheibe für das Pilotprojekt mit den Mini-Satelliten genutzt werden, so die Meldung.
